Sophocles (498 – 406 BCE) is one of three ancient Greek tragic playwrights whose works survived the ages. The other two are Aeschylus and Euripides. Sophacles’ books include The Thebans and Sophacles . His numerous Greek tragedy plays include: Oedipus the King , Antigone , and Women of Trachis . We feature Oedipus the King , which remains on the required reading list to introduce high school students to classic Greek literature.
