The following visual displays of demographic data were part of Du Bois’ collection, “The Exhibit of American Negroes” — in which he attempted to show (a) The history of the American Negro. (b) His present condition. (c) His education. (d) His literature. The collection included 400 official patents by African-Americans, at least 200 books by African-American authors, maps, a Frederick Douglass statue, and 58 hand-drawn charts and graphs, a sample is below.
